3rd Annual BBQ Invitational at The East Coast Grill
UNCLE PETE'S HICKORY RIBS
!! WINS AGAIN !!
On Monday night, November 12, 2001, The East Coast Grill in Cambridge, Mass., hosted their third Annual BBQ Invitational. For the second year in a row, Uncle Pete's Hickory Ribs from East Boston was voted overall grand winner by the night's dinner. Uncle Pete's had an unprecedented three-round knock-out over the challenging teams from Blue Ribbon BBQ, Linwood BBQ and the home team from the East Coast Grill. Uncle Pete's won the most votes in each of the three categories - ribs, brisket, and pork shoulder. Uncle Pete's clearly stated its case of having some of the finest 'que in town.
Jim McGrath, president of the New England Barbecue Society, was on hand to verify the result. It was hard choosing - all the food was outstanding - it just goes to show how much quality barbecue there is in Boston. There were three courses served for this event with entries from each team for each course. The identity of the team was kept hidden until the very end. The guests simply knew each entry as Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, and Team 4.
This was a huge night for barbecue connoisseurs in the area who truly enjoyed all the tasty offerings and left in a meat haze
